Our Pig Pledge

Jun 19 2014

We have just heard that Compassion in World Farming has awarded us a Good Pig Award in recognition of our commitment to pig welfare.   This is the third Good Farm Animal Welfare Award we’ve received (we’ve held their Good Egg and Good Chicken Awards since 2010).

According to Compassion in World Farming, over 287 million hens, chickens, pigs and dairy cows and calves are now set to benefit each year from award winners who it their policy to source higher welfare eggs, meat and dairy produce.

As you know, we only use 100% free range British meat in their pies (we’re the only national British pie brand who can say this….)

We know you care where your food comes from and put farm animal welfare right up there with great taste.  We assure you we’ll keep challenging ourselves with new ways to be a responsible and sustainable brand so you can ‘trust your crust’ every time you bite into a Pieminister pie.

And have you heard about Farms Not Factories? It’s a UK based, globally focused organization aimed at shifting buying habits away from factory-farmed pork to healthy, humane production methods.   We’re supporting their #PigPledge @pigbusiness to help scale-up their campaign against #factoryfarming.  If you want to join us, you can sign up here.
