We're b corp recertified!

Having certified as a B Corp in 2022, not only did we pass our recent recertification, our score rose significantly, from a B Impact score of 88.4 to a whopping 101.02.

And when you factor in that we go further than all of the UK's other national pie makers when it comes to ethics and sustainability, we think we can safely say that if you’re looking for the UK’s most ethical and sustainable pies, you've found us!

What Does That ‘B’ on Our Pie Box Actually Mean?

At a time when it’s harder than ever to distinguish fake from authentic, having a recognised trust mark next to our brand name has never felt so important.

That ‘B’ on the front of our pie boxes isn’t a gimmick, it’s a single stamp of assurance that says: this pie was made by a company that cares. From the welfare of our workforce, to farm animal welfare, to the welfare of people living in some of the poorest parts of the world, B Corp’s B Lab has checked our work, so you don’t just have to take our word for it.

And the thing about B Corp is that once certified, a business must keep striving to do more. Recertifying is not a given, infact many companies don’t make it through. So we’re especially proud to see our score rise the way it has.

Nine Bold Sustainability Commitments for 2025–2030

But there’s no time to rest on our laurels - we’ve set ourselves nine bold sustainability commitments to focus on from now to 2030. Sticking to these is about protecting the planet and our independent family business at the same time. This is really important given that the food industry both contributes to climate change and is incredibly vulnerable to it.

So here’s what we’re planning to focus on over the next five years:

Pies

1.      We’ll never compromise on our high animal welfare standards while growing our non-beef product range and encouraging sustainable farming practices for British beef.

2.      We’ll champion deforestation-free ingredients and continue educating about Identity Preserved Palm Oil.

3.      We’ll only work with like-minded suppliers committed to being a force for good.

Planet

1.      We’ll achieve Net Zero carbon emissions (all Scopes) by 2040.

2.      We’ll make 100% of our packaging reusable, widely recyclable, or easy to home compost.

3.      We’ll continuously reduce all waste and maximise recycling/composting with zero to landfill.

People

1.      We’ll support UK and global charity partners through our Pies, Planet, People efforts.

2.      We’ll cultivate a supportive, inclusive culture where everyone feels valued.

3.      We’ll commit time to external volunteering and social action.

small changes make a difference

Here are a few simple switches to consider, to make a difference:

•        Try lower-carbon pies. Swap out beef for our chicken, venison, or vegan options occasionally.

•        Cook single pies in an air fryer instead of a full oven.

•        Donate to Frank Water when drinking tap water our restaurants. 75p per table adds up!

•        Oh, and keep buying Pieminister! We are the most ethical and sustainable national brand for meat, vegetarian, vegan and gluten free pies :)

Thank You — For Choosing Pies That Care

Every pie of ours that you choose is a vote for the kind of food industry you want to see. We’re proud to be the UK’s most sustainable national pie brand, and we’re just getting started.
