The life of pie. Once upon a time in a kitchen far, far away...

1972

Junior Minister No.1

Our founder is born (St Patrick's Day is never quite the same again...)

1979

Junior Minister No.2

Our second founder arrives. 'Blimey he looks like the FA Cup!' his father exclaims.

1992

Pieminister's first meeting

Jon heads to Nottingham to study Furniture & Product Design (and meets Tristan's sister Romany during Fresher's Week)

1996

Jon & Tris start working together

After a 'bumpy' academic career Tristan comes to London to run the kitchen at The Circle (for his sister's boyfriend, Jon!)

With Tristan’s culinary skills and Jon’s vision, The Circle becomes known 'South of the River' for serving great pub food.

2001

You little ripper!

Tristan moves to Australia. Having talked about setting up a pie company with Jon prior to his trip, Tristan dreams up the Pieminister name while eating a pie on Bondi Beach.

2003

Pieminister Born!

Jon and Tristan acquire an old Printworks on Bristol's Stokes Croft. They renovate the place themselves, transforming it into a pie kitchen and shop. Pieminister opens its doors and the humble pie, served with mash and gravy on enamel plates goes down a storm with the people of Bristol and beyond.

2004

Foodie paradise

Pieminister is selected to become the first pie stall at London's world famous Borough Market.

Pie and mash and rock and roll

Pieminister rocks up at Glastonbury 2004 and festival-goers discover that eating a hot pie and creamy mash in a field helps them forget about mud, rain and loo queues.

Our recipe for success

A Pie for All Seasons is published, packed full of delicious pastry delights

2012

London Calling!

BOXPARK, the world’s first pop-up shopping mall arrives in Shoreditch and we set up shop inside one of their shipping containers! Then we hit Leather Lane, bringing cider and pies to Farringdon's in-crowd

2013

Home sweet home!

The original shop on Stokes Croft gets a cool new look and reopens with a refreshed menu featuring local craft beers, ciders and gin to compliment the pies. Chips arrive on the menu too!

The space above the shop becomes PMHQ again and much of the team returns to the Croft (where it all began back in 2003!)

2014

Do the light thing!

With all the flavour of a classic Pieminister pie and just a little less pastry, our new range of lighter pies are less than 400 calories each!

2015

Croeso i Cardiff

We take our pies over the Severn Bridge, bringing Cwtchy comfort to the people of Wales, just ‘round the corner from the Millennium Stadium.

Leeds & eat pie

We open our northernmost restaurant, complete with a cocktail bar and brand new menu. The people of Leeds know a thing or two about pies and they love ours.
